Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Based on the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault. Use stamps, stickers or sponges to put letters on the coconut tree. Add text: "N is for Nicole"

Ten Apples Up On Top
Based on the book 10 Apples Up on Top by Dr. Seuss. Use a photo of the children’s head and have them place small apple stickers on top. Then count out the apples and write text: “Marshall has 9 apples up on top.”

Green Eggs & Ham Based on the book by Dr. Seuss. Make and try some green eggs & ham. Take photos of the children trying them. Write text to indicate if they do or don’t like green eggs and ham.

Add text: “Nolan’s Wild About Look-Alikes Jr.” This is great to do to celebrate reading month.

The Cat in the Hat B Have "Hat Day" and take photos of the children wearing their hats. Write a sentence like the popular character The Cat in the Hat from the book: “Nolan in the hat.”

Brown
Bear, Brown Bear... Based on the book Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See? by Bill Martin, Jr. Use the names of the children along with their photos to create pages for the book, Children, Children, Who Do You See? Add text: "Nolan, Nolan, who do you see? I see Marshall looking at me." Include the teacher(s) at the end just like in the book.

Find colored pictures of food and create pages for a color book of foods.

Planting a Rainbow
Based on the book by Lois Ehlert.
Cut out pictures and add to pages of colors.
Grocery store ads, flower & seed catalogs are great sources for colored pictures of foods such as the ones pictured here.

Jambo
Means "Hello"
Means “Hello Children” in Swahili. Use the children's names to say “Hello” to them in Swahili: “Jambo Deanna.”

Harold & the Purple Crayon Based on the books by Crockett Johnson. Have children create a drawing with a purple crayon and write a sentence about it. "Look at what Marshall made with a purple crayon! It's Spiderman!"

Hug Based on the book Hug by Jez Alborough. Take photos of the children hugging someone – a friend, a parent, sibling, teacher, stuffed animal… At a parent night take the opportunity to photograph the children hugging mom or dad. Add text telling who is in the photo and other details Include the speech bubble with "Hug" in it.

Goodnight Moon
Have a pajama day and use photos of the children in their pjs for the pages of the book.

Tanka Tanka Skunk Based on the book Tanka Tanka Skunk by Steve Webb. Use the names of the children and have them figure out how many syllables or “beats” they have in their names. "This is Marshall. His names has 2 beats. (Mar shall)."
